What is Bubble Packaging? Production and Usage Areas

Today, the packaging industry is constantly developing and offers innovative solutions. One of them is bubble packaging. Bubble packaging is a type of packaging that contains air-filled bubbles. These bubbles ensure that products are protected from impacts, vibrations and scratches.

Production of Balloon Packaging

Balloon packaging is generally produced using polyethylene (PE) material. This type of packaging, with air-filled bubbles placed between two layers, provides resistance to impacts. The manufacture of bubble wrap usually includes the following steps:

Material Selection: The main material used in balloon packaging production is polyethylene. Polyethylene is a polymer known for its flexibility and durability. This material is ideal for creating bubbles.

Film Production: For the production of bubble wrap, polyethylene granules are melted using extruders and formed into a thin film. This film creates the layers in which the bubbles will reside.

Bubble Formation: The thin film is formed into a bubble structure with the help of a special bubble forming machine. This machine inflates the film with the help of air pressure and creates bubbles.

Joining the Film Layers: After the bubbles are formed, another polyethylene film is added on top of the bubble layer. This process ensures that the bubbles are covered with a protective layer.

Cutting and Packing: In the last step, the bubble wrap film is cut to the desired dimensions and packed in rolls. Thus, the production process is completed.

Usage Areas of Bubble Packaging

Bubble packaging has a wide range of uses. Here are some areas where bubble wrap is commonly used:

E-commerce: Bubble packaging is a type of packaging that is frequently used, especially in the e-commerce sector. It ensures the safe transportation of products sold over the Internet. Its bubble structure ensures that products are protected against impacts during transportation and prevents damaged products from reaching customers.

Electronic Goods: Electronic devices need protection during transport due to their sensitive nature. Bubble packaging ensures the safe packaging and transportation of such products. Electronic items such as computers, mobile phones, tablets can be protected with bubble wrap.

Glass Products: Glass products should be handled carefully due to their fragile nature. Bubble packaging provides protection of glassware against impacts. Glass items such as glasses, plates, mirrors can be packed securely with bubble wrap.

Sensitive Goods: Balloon packaging is also effective in protecting other sensitive and fragile products. For example, sensitive items such as ceramic products, antiques and jewellery can be transported by wrapping them with bubble wrap.

Portable Electronics: For travelers, bubble wrap plays an important role in protecting portable electronics. Portable electronic devices such as laptops, cameras, game consoles can be safely packaged with bubble wrap and travel.

Automotive Industry: Bubble wrap is also widely used in the automotive industry. Automotive parts are transported protected by bubble wrap. These include sensitive and valuable parts such as headlights, windows, exhaust systems.

The usage areas of the balloon packaging are quite wide and it ensures the safe transportation of the products. In addition, ease of use and being suitable for recycling are also reasons for preference.
